Our family team are experts at drafting and negotiating Prenuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements.
We recommend that if you have assets, income, or businesses to protect, or this is not your first marriage, then you should carefully consider the benefits of entering a Prenuptial Agreement. Our team will advise and guide you on this topic to ensure that the appropriate steps are undertaken for there to be a valid and enforceable Agreement.
We understand that this can be a very delicate task, as often you will be in the early stages of a happy relationship. We can guide you on how to discuss this with your partner in a sensitive manner.
Every partnership is unique, and any agreement has to be tailored to your circumstances. We do not advise using standard templates, as you need your Prenuptial Agreement to protect you properly if needed.
To retain harmony and to assist with future enforcement prospects we recommend that Prenuptial Agreements are negotiated, agreed and signed at least six months prior to the wedding date.
A Post-nuptial Agreement has similar features to a Prenuptial Agreement, with the only difference being that it is prepared following the marriage. Whilst these are less common, these can be legally complex. Please contact us for further advice.
